I used the machine too, just took a while, lots of water and scrubbing.
* I had the machine for other carpets too, not just for this.

i have those mats. the stains are from the previous owner, not me. in the winter i put old bath mats (similar to crappy carpets) under my weather tech winter mats. i make sure my bath mats are cut so they go "up" the sidewalls where your feet go = no salt stains etc whatsoever. im a very meticulous person when it comes to detailing and car maintenance.

Try using a mixture of 1/2 warm water and 1/2 vinegar in a spray bottle. Let it sit for a bit and soak into the carpet then dry it up. Make sure you vacuum the area prior to doing this.
Another alternative is the turtle wax carpet cleaner and stain remover WITH OXY. Any sort of carpet and stain remover with OXY will work very well. Again spray it on and let it sit for a bit. You may have to do this a few times depending how bad it is.

I used to help manage a interior steam cleaning company. We did detailing but mostly it was steam cleaning interiors of cars, headliners, seats etc. Salt stains after winter were a tough job! Scrape and vacuum out what you can dry before wetting any stain/salt etc Then blot as much as you can before applying any chemicals if its a wet spot, oil, juice, pop, milk, etc With salt. Lots of HOT HOT water and rinsing works. Usually what happens is you dissolve the salt and move it. Then it drys when you think your done and you have a bigger area to clean. To help stop this,, dry the carpet with absorbent towel and don't let it dry by air. This stops the wicking action from the carpet drying from the tips of the fibers to the base. Wicking can pull a stain that has been dissolved and pushed to the backing of the carpet UP to the surface. If you choose to use chemicals/ soaps just make sure to rinse the fibers. Spray bottle with water inside and 10% solution of vinegar works well to remove soap residues and salt. This all can be done with a shop vacuum and hot water + vinegar. Just be persistent.

Everyone is right. I used boiling water, a little vinegar, more hot water and some bath towels to blot it. If all else fails, just buy new mats from the dealership haha. They usually have specials when there's a "garage sale" or a meet.
